Waste Management Volunteering at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden Flower Show 2022

The much-anticipated flower show at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden started on August 5 and continued until August 15, 2022. Twice a year, the flower show is conducted to commemorate Republic Day in January and Independence Day in August. The Independence Day flower exhibit this year aimed to generate no trash, no plastic, and no litter.

About 50 students from CAARMA, The Eco Club of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) - School of Sciences, volunteered for the flower show at Lalbagh Botanical Garden alongside Saahas Zero Waste, an organisation that provides complete waste management solutions. They concentrate on offering complete garbage management solutions to businesses that produce bulk waste. The CAARMA volunteers gave their time and complete commitment to the cause every day. The division between dry and wet waste was explained to the students. Saahas provided uniforms and signboards for each volunteer.

The students had a great opportunity to engage in conversation with other volunteers and visitors. In terms of waste management and segregation, they learned a lot.
