Summer School Program of Liverpool John Moores University - Students Visited Campuses of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)

A group of students from Liverpool John Moores University visited various campuses of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) as part of their summer school program. The student contingent not only witnessed the rich educational/academic milieu of JAIN but also got familiarised with the rich socio-cultural milieu of India. The students had the opportunity to meet some of the top educationists, policymakers, and intellectuals during their visit.

On the 4th of July, the students were welcomed in a traditional way to provide them with a glimpse of the rich Indian culture, and the programme orientation took place. The following day they saw a presentation on the diversity of Indian culture and Indian festivals prepared by the Department of Management Studies. They also had buddy activities based on cultural diversity, a talk on examination procedures and assessments, and a presentation by Psychology Department. On 6th July, they had on their schedule a presentation by the Department of Commerce, buddy presentations and assessments, an activity by the Department of Science, a movie screening and review by the Department of Humanities, and cultural events. The next day, students visited CIAL. On the 8th of July, they had the VAPASEE Recycling Workshop and visited Lullu Mall (Kochi). The next day they visited Chendamangalam Handloom and explored Cherai Beach. On the 13th of July, they had sessions on environmental sustainability, financial independence, and healthy living and wellbeing. Then on the 18th of the month, the students attended an animation workshop, a session on the implications of forensic science in daily life, and the launch of the international graduate program. The following day was reserved for sightseeing. On 20th July, the schedule had sessions on Marine Eco-system: The Challenges We Face, Financial Frauds, and Painting Human Expression through Cinema: The Passion for Performance. The day concluded with a Yoga and wellness session. The next day it was a master class at SAHS. It began with a traditional welcome by Team SAHS and included interaction with the Director and an overview of healthcare education in India. The SAHS students also presented a cultural programme. On 23rd July, they visited the Department of Science. The day also had a presentation on SoS, an ice-breaker session, a panel discussion, a cultural programme, a lab visit, and a campus tour. Again on 25th July, they had a master class at SAHS. The class included a session by Dr. Juliana and Ms. Neha Jha and Psychology Games by Ms.Tanvi Patel. The following day they went to Channapatana Toy Factory Visit and interacted with the CEO of Channapatna Crafts Park. On the last day, they had an interaction with Bengaluru Protopolis Team at CMS Campus and even visited the JAIN Global Campus. At the end of the summer immersion program, the certificates were awarded.

The visit of the student contingent of Liverpool John Moores University has initiated a rich socio-cultural exchange with their Indian counterparts. This visit indeed marks the beginning of an ever-growing and mutually beneficial relationship between the two universities.
